The Legend on Canvas

This stone hallway of the Maha-Ganapati temple at Ranjangaon houses a row of beautiful paintings that depict the legend of the temple.

Ambience Perfecto !

The perfect ambience. Lights add to the elegance of the wooden interior of a temple hall. One of the 'Ashtavinayak' temples, the Maha-Ganapati temple at Ranjangaon reflects the typical 'Peshwa'-style of architecture.

Quit Staring ! This is what I do everyday....for a living.

A local heading home with his herd. One of the ocassions where modernisation despite all technological advances comes to a stand still...literally. All the vehicles had to stop in their tracks till the herd crossed over!

Rural Landscape

A village (Siddhatek) in Maharashtra. Notice the T.V. Antennae; this is one of the most remarkable achievements of the National TV Channel (Doordarshan). Its reach has extended to even the most interior parts of Maharashtra.

'Shiv Janmasthan' - Kille Shivneri

A view of the once-majestic Fort Shivneri - The birthplace of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the legendary Maratha King and the founder of 'Hindavi Swarajya'

Maharashtra Unlimited !

Truly a land of Courage, Faith and Mountains ! A view of one of the peaks of the magnificient Sahyadri range-as seen from the Malshej Ghat (a beautiful tourist attraction-especially during the monsoons!) This photo was taken at a small Shiv (The God of Destruction) temple in the Malshej Ghat. Seen in the foreground are the temple bells and the 'Bhagva' - the saffron flag of Hindu religion.

Silhouetted Faith !

A view of a 'Deep-Stambh' (pillar for placing earthen lamps-a tradition in Hindu temples) against the silhouette of the temple arches. One of the 'Astha-Vinayak' temples - Moreshwar; Village - Morgaon.

Flavours of Maharashtra

Dressed in a traditional attire a 'kulfi-wala' (Kulfi-a type of ice-cream; a local variant of the more famous 'stick-candy'). This was taken during the 'Ashta-Vinayak' tour. Village - Morgaon. In the background is our group which went for the tour. The stark contrast in the attire is so evident !
